Looking for Varsity Cheerleaders

Interested in having fun? Enjoy competition? Like making new friends? Then you need to become a WESTCHASE COLTS CHEERLEADER!

The Westchase Colts are looking for varsity cheerleaders between 13 and 15 years old (as of December 31,2010). We practice at the Ed Radice soccer fields off of South Mobley. The season runs from July through December. This is a great way to learn the fundamentals of cheerleading or to brush up on the skills you already have before trying out for your high school team.

2010 Schedule Now Online

The TBYFL updated their website with the official 2010 tackle football schedule a few days ago, and that information has now been added to the Colts website. It’s doubtful our parents will be happy to see two games in Lutz and two games in Progress Village (including the last game of the season), but the additional travel was expected with the four additional teams that were added to the league recently. The Colts will only play four games at Skyway Park this coming season, down from eight in 2009.

Colts Cheerleader Battling Cancer

Adriana Mininno, one of our Mighty Mite cheerleaders, had surgery yesterday to remove a brain tumor. It was cancerous, but the good news is that the surgeons believe they got it all. She will still have some chemo and radiation treatments at All Children’s Hospital, but we all hope the worst is completely behind her. Please keep Adriana and her family in your thoughts and prayers as they work through this trying process.

Update: There will be a car wash held to help her family offset some of the costs associated with her surgery and subsequent treatment. It will be on Saturday, December 5 at the 7-11 on the corner of Sheldon and Linebaugh from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. Colts families are being urged to come out and support Adrianna.

Colts Cheerleaders Crush Competition at Cheer-offs

Once again the Colts dominated the competition! Peewee, Super Midget and Midget took first place and Varsity took second. All of the squads performed awesome and represented the Colts organization with class.

Colts Cheerleaders Take Top Honors at Gulf Coast Classic

The 3rd Annual Gulf Coast Cheer Classic was held this past Sunday, October 25th at the Lakeland Civic Center. All five of our Colts cheerleading squads made the trip to Lakeland for this competition with 3 of them returning home with 1st place trophies for their efforts – including a Grand Champion trophy for our Midget squad.

The complete list of results is as follows:

Mighty Mites – 1st place
Peewee – 2nd place
Super Midget – 1st place
Midget – 1st place and Grand Champions
Varsity – 4th place

Even though our Varsity squad placed 4th in their division, coach Debbie’s girls all nailed their routine – but were up against some extremely tough competition from outside of the TBYFL. Every cheerleader from the Colts wore their colors with pride and represented the Westchase Colts perfectly. Congratulations to all of the cheerleaders, coaches, and parents!
