Our Pee Wee Colts made it to the Super Bowl for the second year in a row, but unfortunately, walked away with runner up trophies.

Coach Chuck’s squad battled hard all season and definitely continued to improve with time as evidenced by their 25-0 trouncing of the top-seed Giants to gain their birth in the TBYFL Super Bowl.

Their effort did not go unnoticed by the parents and the players were cheered and celebrated as they left the field yesterday. “That’s OK,” said Coach Chuck. “We’ll win it next year.”

Three Colts squads all finish their season in second place out of 16 teams.

The three Westchase Colts squads that played in the 2010 TBYFL Super Bowl yesterday all went home with 2nd place trophies for their efforts. Both the Pee Wee and Super Midgets fell to the Jaguars while our Midget team lost to the Packers.

The losses mean our three Super Bowl teams all finish as 2010 runner-ups – not a bad finish among 16 great teams!

Congratulations to all the parents, coaches, cheerleaders, and players on a really terrific football season. We’ll see everyone again next summer.

Three out of four Colts divisions to play in 2010 TBYFL Super Bowl on November 20th.

Of the four Colts squads appearing today in the second round of TBYFL playoffs, three won their games and will advance to the final showdown – the 2010 Super Bowl at Skyway Park on Saturday, November 20th. Photographs from the games can be found on James Broome Photography’s website.

The Pee Wee squad started the day off with an 8:30 am kickoff on a 47 degree field with gusty winds. They played their hearts out to post a 13-0 shutout against the Thonotosassa Giants, who came into the game with the exact same record as our Colts: 9-1-1.

With one win under our belts for the day, the Super Midgets brought their A-game during this second round of playoffs and showed up big against the Town & Country Packers, posting the second shutout of the day, 6-0.

Keeping the winning streak alive, Coach Chuck’s Midget squad battled the cold weather and the previously unbeaten Nuccio Jaguars to post an impressive 28-14 victory. Everyone in attendance felt the boys played their best game of the season.

Our Varsity squad fought hard at the end of the cold, windy day, but fell short in their bid for a Colts playoff sweep as they fell to the Nuccio Jaguars.

The TBYFL Super Bowl games will be held on Saturday, November 20th on the North (turf) field at Skyway Park. The Pee Wee game is against the Jaguars at 9:00 am, the Super Midget game is against the Jaguars at 11:00 am, and the Midget game is against the Packers at 1:00 pm.

Colts are one of only two organizations to send all four divisions to 2nd round of playoffs.

The Westchase Colts enjoyed a great first round of the 2010 TBYFL playoffs Saturday as all four squads won their respective games to advance to the 2nd round to take place Saturday, November 6th at Skyway Park. Action photographs from the Super, Midget, and Varsity games can be found on James Broome Photography’s website.

The day started extremely well with our Pee Wee squad taking care of business against the Steelers by posting a 21-0 shutout in front of a tremendous Colts crowd at Skyway. The little guys looked superb on both sides of the ball and have really become an outstanding football team this season.

Our Super Midgets notched another shutout in the playoffs by blanking the Northside Dolphins 13-0. The score makes the game sound closer than it was as our Colts looked to be in control of the game from start to finish.

Coach Chuck’s Midget squad gave up the first touchdown of the day, but had some outstanding runs by Alex Owens, Mondreas Lofton, and Parker Looney to take care of the Dolphins by a score of 12-6. Despite the single TD given up by the Colts, the defense looked as good as it has all season.

Ty’s Varsity team finished the big playoff sweep by dominating the Seahawks 20-8, including a heads-up defensive TD by Brad Mayes.

All four squads advance to the 2nd round of playoffs to be held this Saturday at Skyway Park.

Our Pee Wees will play against the Giants at 8:30 am, Supers against the Packers at 1:00 pm, Midgets against the Jaguars at 4:30 pm, and Varsity against the Jaguars at 6:00 pm. All games will be held on the North (turf) field. The winners from each game will advance to the 2010 TBYFL Super Bowl on Saturday, November 20th.

Pee Wee squad prove to be the strongest of the day for the Colts and take the only win.

Our Pee Wee squad got the day in Oldsmar started right with a great 19-7 win versus the Town and Country Packers. However, the day started heading in the wrong direction for the Colts as the Super Midget squad, looking at first and goal early in the game, was unable to put points on the board. The remainder of the game was spent in the middle of the field and ended in a scoreless tie. The Midget Colts game was a nail-biter with both teams trading touchdowns. Our boys were unable to make the 2-point conversion after the 2nd touchdown and left the field down by those very important 2 points. The final score was 14-12. The Varsity squad started strong by scoring early, but ended up falling behind and were unable to recover. The Varsity score was 27-7.

All four squads dealt their initial losses of the season by the Jaguars.

Every Colts squad walked onto the field at Progress Village undefeated this morning. By the time their respective games were over, each had been handed their first loss of the season.

Everyone knew the games against the Jaguars would be tough, but very few could imagine that our boys best today wouldn’t even be enough to get into the end zone; as our scoreboard shows, two of our teams were completely shutout.

We’ll all hope to regroup and being our ‘A’ games next weekend in Oldsmar as we take on the Packers in what will also be very tough games.

Photographs of Colts players and cheerleaders from the Jaguars game are available online at James Broome Photography‘s website.

Scores for the day: 13-6, 0-0, 14-0, 24-0

Over four games at Lutz yesterday, our Colts squads were able to keep the Chiefs out of the end zone all day save for 1 touchdown in the first game of the day against our Pee Wee squad. Our boys played extremely well all day in front of stands packed with plenty of Colts fans.

The Pee Wee squad was two seconds away from going into the half up 6-0, but a 90 yard run by the Chiefs as time expired forced a 6-6 game at the beginning of the second half. However, just a few plays later, the Colts drove into the end zone to take a 13-6 lead that they were able to hold onto for the duration of the game.

As exciting as that game was, our Supers decided to do one better as they engaged in one of the most defensive battles our Colts have ever seen. Scoreless at the half, neither team found the end zone in the second half either and the game ended 0-0. There were only a few scoring opportunities all game as both teams relied heavily on their defenses.

Our Midget team scored early and played very well on both sides of the ball to post a 14-0 win against the Lutz Chiefs. Coach Chuck gave all the boys high marks for their effort, calling it one of their best all season.

The Varsity game was ugly with both teams committing multiple personal fouls and was stopped early with the Colts given the 24-0 win.

The youngest generation of Colts players opened their season tonight at Skyway with a very impressive game against the Jr. Bucs. Having their game last Wednesday called off due to weather, tonight’s game became their opener, and the players and cheerleaders looked great in front of a nice crowd of cheering Colts fans.

Photographs from the game are now available on James Broome Photography’s website.

A few close wins and a tie are all we have to show after taking the Vikings for granted.

The Town and Country Vikings, with only two wins total among their four squads this year, definitely came to play as they gave our Colts quite a fight today. Not only did our Pee Wee squad give up their first touchdown of the season, but our Midgets walked away with a tie. It’s doubtful the players gave the Vikings the credit they deserved coming into their games at Skyway today.

Mike Dorman’s Pee Wee squad played fair on offense, but showed some signs of wear on defense as they finished their game against the Vikings with a score of 12-6. Coach Tom’s Super Midget team overcame some early mistakes to post a 20-13 win in front of a sizable crowd of Colts fans. The big surprise of the day was our Midgets having to leave the field with only a 12-12 tie to show for their efforts. The big turning point in that game coming from a 80+ yard interception by the Vikings as the Colts were about to go up by two touchdowns. Ty’s Varsity team was the big winner today as they beat the TnC team 22-6.

At the end of the day – and after four weekends of play this season – all four of our Colts teams are still undefeated.

Full results to date can be found on the Schedule page of the Colts website.

The Westchase Colts’ first trip to Lutz was a success as all four squads took home wins against the Brandon Ravens. The Pee Wee squad continued to showcase their stifling defense as they shutout the Ravens 21-0.

Our Super Midget squad finally gave up a couple of touchdowns, but still dominated on offense by scoring 20 points against the Brandon team for a final score of 20-13. The nail-biting began with the Midget squad as they finished strong to come back for a 14-8 victory and our Varsity team escaped with a very close 8-6 victory.

The coaches of our older kids promised lots of work on the basics come Monday as they weren’t happy with what they saw from their players – despite the wins.
