10th Anniversary Homecoming a Big Success

It seemed every parent was eager to see and photograph their kids posing in front of the Colts horseshoe at halftime yesterday. The excitement was huge and the kids did not disappoint.

After a long day of battling the Brandon Ravens at Skyway Park, it was time for everyone to get their groove on at Ruth Eckerd Hall. DJ Woody & Luke Entertainment kept the floor busy and Outback Steakhouse kept everyone full. The light rain didn’t dampen the mood at all as the raffle baskets were once again the big hit of the night.

The Colts once again thank Luke Entertainment and Outback Steakhouse for making the 10th Anniversary Westchase Colts homecoming one to remember.

Colts Midgets Score Big Off the Field

On Wednesday, September 21st, several Colts Midget players volunteered at the Suncoast chapter of the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society in preparation for one of their “Light the Night” fundraisers. In two hours they finished more than enough for the first walk. Way to go boys!

FYI – At a practice in the next week Colts parents will be able to assist in completing the project (supplies ran out last week) while the boys are practicing. Several Midget parents will be recruiting helpers.

The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.

Our Key Priorities will ensure that: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society helps blood cancer patients live better, longer lives.

Homecoming – Saturday, October 8th – Mark Your Calendars

Colts Parents – please mark your calenders for the Westchase Colts 10th anniversary homecoming event! It will be held on Saturday, October 8th at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. As always, you can look forward to great music by DJ Woody & Luke Entertainment, great food, and plenty of good times with your Colts friends.

Everyone should be working with their team moms on getting their raffle baskets together for the big event. Everyone looks forward to the raffle every year, so plan now to draw as much interest in your team’s basket as possible.

Tickets will go on sale the week of September 26th. Keep a look out for them!

Equipment Pick-Up July 16 & 23

Equipment pick-up for all tackle football players will be held on Saturday, July 16th and Saturday, July 23rd from 10:00 AM until noon both days. Players who have paid in full can pick up their equipment at the equipment shed located next to the Colts practice fields at the Ed Radice Sports Complex. Please park in the parking lot – do not drive your car up to the equipment shed.

Carrabba’s Lunch to Benefit Noah Seger

The Colts organization was saddened recently with the news that Noah Seger, one of our Colt’s Midgets players last year, has a rare cancer called Ewing Sarcoma.

Carrabba’s in Citrus Park on Sheldon Road is hosting a fundraiser lunch on a date in August to be determined. The donation is $20 per person. It is our hope that a nice turnout of families and friends will help offset some of the overwhelming costs associated with Noah’s treatment. This is a call to everyone – not just Colts families – to rally behind the Segers in an effort to help in any way we can.

Tickets to the Carrabba’s lunch can be purchased online using the PayPal link below. Please make sure to print your receipt and bring it with you to the lunch. Those unable to attend the lunch can still use the link below to make a donation to help the family.

Let’s pull together to help the Segers out.

Colts lose one of their own

It is with deep sadness that the Westchase Colts announce the loss of coach Al Forgione. Coach Al spent the last three years as a trusted part of the Colts organization and made many friends, not only with the players, but with the parents and other coaches. Please keep Karen, Alexandria, Victoria, Vincent and the rest of their family in your thoughts and prayers. They will need all of our support to get through this most difficult time.

Al will be missed more than words can express. The viewing and funeral information is below

On Wednesday, December 29th visitation will be at 10am with Funeral Mass at 11am at

After the mass, he will be laid to rest at

Clearwater, FL

The family will receive friends for a gathering after the cemetery.

2010 Colts End-of-Season Picnic

The Westchase Colts end-of-season picnic will be held on Saturday, December 4th, from 10 am until 2 pm at John Chestnut Senior Park (Brooker Creek Way, Palm Harbor, Florida 34685). We’ll be in shelters 7 and 8. Breakfast will be served.

Each family is asked to bring a single new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots. The Colts pride themselves on helping those in need, so please help us by participating in this toy drive.

Equipment Return & Pre-Registration

Equipment pickup will be held at the equipment shed next to our practice fields at Ed Radice from 6 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, November 30th. All players are required to return their equipment, including:

Helmet
Shoulder Pads
Practice Pants
Practice Jersey
Game Pants
All 5 Pads from Pants

Helmet should have all stickers removed and be cleaned thoroughly. Magic Erasers (available at Publix, CVS, and Target) will help remove paint scratches and adhesive residue.

Equipment is required to be returned in a kitchen garbage bag with player’s name and division written on the outside.

Players that do not return the above listed equipment will be unable to play 8-on-8 and will not be permitted to register for the 2011 Colts season. Players participating in 8-on-8 will be provided equipment at a later date.

Players returning equipment will also have another opportunity to pre-register for the 2011 season that night. The Colts only have a limited number of spaces available for players and cheerleaders. The only way to secure a spot for your child is to pre-reigister by filling out the form and paying the $100 fee.
