The Westchase Colts join the TBYFL organization and the Citrus Park Bills in mourning the loss of Bills midget football player Mitchell Bowers, 12, who was struck by a vehicle and killed while riding his bike on Van Dyke Road on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010. Bowers was a seventh-grader at Martinez Middle School and wore number 90 for the Bills.
According to Hillsborough County deputies, Mitchell was riding west in the bicycle lane of Van Dyke approaching Currie Ford Drive when he was struck about 6:45 p.m. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Funeral arrangements are pending.
