What equipment will I need to purchase for my player for regular season practices?

All football players will need a practice jersey that fits over pads, cleats, padded practice pants, and mouth guard with a lanyard, and a water bottle. At equipment pick up and at the first couple of practices, we will have practice jerseys and padded pants for sale at a discounted rate.

How do I know which division my player will be playing in?

In the “About” drop down tab, please click on “Ages and Weights”.

What does my football registration fee pay for?

Every Colts player receives one customized jersey, and pair of padded game pants to keep. Registration fees go towards field fees, insurance, helmet reconditioning, pad maintenance and other equipment fees.

Am I required to volunteer?

The Westchase Colts is an organization that relies on its community of families to help keep registration and equipment fees low by having volunteers help at games and in fundraising during the season. We raise fundraising dollars by selling concession items and charging admission fees at home games, which we need volunteers to help with. We have other fundraising opportunities throughout the season that we request donations for from our families as well.

What documents are required for my player to register?

Original Birth Certificate (this will be kept by your team mom until certified by Pop Warner officials, typically within the first two regular season games); Pop Warner Form: Physical Fitness & Medical History; Pop Warner Form: Participant Contract and Parental Consent; Physical from a Doctor; COVID Form; Most recent report card (copy, all on one sheet of paper); electronic headshot.

How many games are in a season?

There are typically 9 regular season games, depending on weather and scheduling. If your team makes it into the playoff season, you can expect to play anywhere from 1-4 post-season games.

When do practices start?

If your head coach chooses, your player could start 7v7 flag training over the summer, starting in July. This is a great way for players to get their bodies ready for the movements of the game of football, and for the coaches to get to know their players. These summer time sessions are voluntary. Regular practices begin the first week of August, depending on school start schedules. For the first two weeks, practices will be every night, Monday-Thursday from 6:30-8:30pm. Then practice will be Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
